Play Therapy Support

Dóchas Family Centre’s Play or Creative Therapy Service enables children & young people with an opportunity to safely express their feelings and thoughts and supports them in developing the tools to cope with life’s difficulties in a more positive and constructive way.

The Therapist uses play and other creative therapy tools to work through feelings and enable expression. The Therapist follows the child’s or young person’s lead and supports them to explore the resources.

Play Therapy will be available between March -May and September – November where children will attend between 12-14 sessions with a qualified Therapist. We see this as complementary to our overall work with children & families.

Sensory Support

Dóchas has a fully equipped Sensory Room for children. The sensory room encourages relaxation, regulation and is a safe space for children to express themselves or simply sit quietly for a period of time, supervised by their Case Worker. The space is equipped with a light wall, bubble tube, infinity tunnel, sensory foot tiles, large bean bags, under the sea projection, night sky projector, light cube & table and weighted blankets. We also have a range of fidget toys and other sensory resources.
